Going Green with Chocolate!
I don’t care what anyone says, there is nothing more delicious, more utterly decadent, than rich chocolate. It’s the thing we give ourselves when we’re feeling down. We turn to chocolate when we feel tired or cranky, knowing it will lift our spirits with its perfect blend of bitter and sweet. In fact, chocolate (in moderation) is medically proven to improve mood and it’s full of cancer-fighting antioxidants! A 2011 Swedish study found that women who ate more than 45 grams of chocolate every week had a 20% lower risk of stroke than women who ate less than 9 grams. Chocolate has been around for thousands of years. When it’s made right, it is renewable, all natural, and 100% delicious. Incorporate chocolate into your wedding by using it in desserts, incorporating it into savory dishes (molé anyone?), or by giving it as favors. Here are some great eco-friendly chocolatiers.

Fun Ways to Re-use Your Bridesmaid Dress
According to The Wedding Report Inc, the average number of times someone is a bridesmaid is 3. That translates to over $3,000 spent for each bridesmaid in a lifetime. The average number of times a bridesmaid will re-wear a dress is 1.34%! These numbers clearly show that brides need to start making some changes for their bridesmaids and bridesmaids need new ways to make good use of their dresses. Instead of making your best friends wear a certain dress, pick a color scheme and ask them to wear a dress they already own that matches your color. It will cost them much less and they are more likely to wear a favorite dress of theirs again!

Greening Mosquito Repellent for Backyard Weddings!
One of the few drawbacks of holding an outdoor or backyard wedding can be mosquitoes. Yes, of all the things that could be a nuisance these little pests often take the prize because they buzz around ears, bite, and end up making the wedding party and guests uncomfortable. At one friend’s wedding even the photographer was getting annoyed because they were keeping his subjects from staying still.

Midnight Snacks: Organic Treats to Keep the Party Going
My favorite part of my wedding was the late night party. After so many months of planning, greeting my friends and family, getting all fancied up, crying my eyes out, and taking millions of pictures, it felt so good to let loose and dance! (A word of advice: ditch the stilettos!) We booked our venue until three in the morning. We knew it would be impossible to stop once we really got rolling. We also knew we’d need some snacks as the night wore on. By one in the morning it had been five hours since dinner and our guests were ravenous. We’d also been drinking with abandon for several hours and desperately needed a little sobering up. I opted for starchy, greasy late night snacks, true to my hard partying college days. We still kept everything local and organic but comfort food was the key to pure satisfaction.
